We are a family of 4 in Yeronga. My husband and I have 2 sons; 6 and 4 years of age. Our 6 year old boy has been diagnosed with ADHD this year. I am currently unable to work due to health reasons (currently have difficulty using my fingers/hands) and my husband will be working long hours over the next 7 or so months. If you are the right fit for us, and us you, this will be an ongoing position if you are interested.
We will need someone to pickup Oliver from school 2 days, maybe 3, per week at 2.45pm. You can take him to a playground to spend sone time playing if he would like to. Otherwise you can bring him home. It’s important to ensure he catches up on eating and hydrating soon after you pick him up. for He has a tendency to not eat as much as he needs to or use to, especially recently on medication trials. He becomes ‘scattered’ or ‘hangry’ if he hadn’t eaten which can lead into impulsive behaviour and ‘meltdowns’ if he isn’t given food early enough. I can go into more detail about him if you are interested in this role. It would be for 3-4 hours, 2 (possibly some weeks 3) days a week.
The permanent days you can help us will depend on your availability. For us, currently Mondays and Thursdays would be wonderful but we can shift things around to work with your availability. We may need help on Tuesday afternoons next term.
Even though you will only be picking up Oliver (6), we do require assistance with both the boys in the afternoons/evenings. This may include preparing dinner, playing some games, getting them bathed/showered (assisting the 4 year old but encouraging Oliver to wash himself) and help them brush their teeth, to name a few.
We will also require some help with domestic duties which may include: - Washing up - Tidying up living/play areas/kitchen - Folding washing - Preparing/cooking dinners - Preparing lunches for the following day.
Any experience with neurodiverse children is appreciated however not a requirement.
