My last experience of working with a family was in London, and I took care kids aged 3, 9 and 13 on a daily basis. I went to get the kids from school/daycare, made them snacks, later dinner (for the whole family too), I did housekeeping chores, took the kids to swimming halls and parks on the weekends and of course provided my help when the parents had plans in the evenings, so I got the youngest one in a bath and to sleep after reading goodnight stories for her and tucked her in. I stayed overnight when needed. Not to even mention silly games during the waking hours, such as jumping on trampoline, duck-duck-goose and so on!
I really enjoyed this, you really get to understand what the kids need, and also what the parents need.
I’m empathetic and always willing to play but can also kindly set boundaries when needed, especially when young kids might get cranky when tired.
Every child, like adult, is unique and needs different forms of taking care of. I enjoy learning about their interests and am happy to teach new things. I can also help with homework, of course.
