Hello, I'm Ciara. I am a 23-year-old looking for occasional ad-hoc work when you need a well-deserved night off or last-minute cover.
Hello, I'm Ciara. I am a 23-year-old full-time university student studying Childhood and Youth Studies (online) who has worked in and out of schools as a special needs teaching assistant. I am looking for occasional ad-hoc work for when you need a well-deserved night off or last-minute cover if something comes up. I also offer occasional/emergency after-school pick-up.
My availability changes weekly due to my studies and other commitments. I have experience working with children of all ages, including twins, triplets, and those with special needs. I have a DBS check and have completed accredited courses like First Aid.
Please reach out to me via the website before contacting me by phone. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
My Fees:
I let my families decide; this ranges from $25 - $38 per hour (Av. $28.50) plus transport (bus fare) during the day and taxi or lift before 0800 and after 1800 as I am conscious about my safety early in the morning and late and night.
The fee depends on factors such as how many children you have and what services you want me to provide.
I have some additional fees for different situations:
>Before 0830 I charge $30 per hour
>For school drop off and pick up, the minimum charge is one hour at $30 per hour
>After midnight I charge $30 per hour
>Overnight stays range from $25 (sleeping) - $40 (awake) per hour.
>An hour In-person visit will cost $25 plus transport fees to your location.
I don’t want a family to fear that they cannot ask me to babysit for financial reasons. I am happy to discuss this privately.

Parents love having me as their babysitter for several reasons, as they've shared in their lovely reviews (https://www.childcare.co.uk/myreviews): Professionalism and Flexibility: I strike the perfect balance between being professional and flexible. I always ensure that I'm respectful and organized, while also adapting to the specific needs of each family. This makes parents feel comfortable and confident leaving their children in my care. Positive Energy and Engagement: I'm full of energy and positivity, which the children really respond to. I love engaging with them, whether it's soothing a fussy baby or coming up with creative activities for older kids. I always aim to make my time with them fun and memorable. Reliability and Trustworthiness: Being reliable and trustworthy is very important to me. I’m always punctual and keep parents updated regularly, so they can relax and enjoy their time away, knowing their little ones are in safe hands. Handling Challenges with Ease: I’m experienced in managing children, even in challenging situations. Whether it’s calming a fussy baby or managing a group of energetic boys, I handle everything calmly and with care, ensuring the children are happy and well-behaved. Going Above and Beyond: I love going the extra mile, whether it’s stepping in as a photographer at a wedding or setting up a special surprise for the kids. I’m always willing to help out wherever I can, making sure everything runs smoothly at home or during events. Building Strong Bonds with Children: I have a knack for forming instant bonds with the children I care for. Many parents have mentioned how quickly their kids warm up to me and how much they look forward to my visits. This connection is something I really cherish, as it helps both the parents and children feel at ease. In summary, parents love having me as their babysitter because I bring a mix of professionalism, energy, reliability, and genuine care into every situation, ensuring their children are not just well-cared for, but truly happy.
I think kids love having me as their babysitter for many reasons, it’s always wonderful to see how quickly they warm up to me most of the time: Fun and Engaging: Whether they're newborns or 6-year-olds, kids love how I bring fun and energy into every visit. I always come prepared with games, toys, and activities that keep them entertained, like arts and crafts, colouring, and even setting up little surprises like salt dough projects or ‘elf on the shelf’ scenes. They enjoy every moment and often ask when I'll be coming back. Warm and Caring: I make sure every child feels cared for and comfortable. For the little ones, especially those in the newborn to 6-year-old range, I provide a lot of warmth and nurturing. I'm there to soothe them when they're fussy, follow their routines to help them settle down, and ensure they're happy and content. Understanding and Supportive: For the older kids, particularly those aged 10 to 14, I’m someone they can trust and feel comfortable with. Even those who might not initially like the idea of having a babysitter quickly realise that I’m there to support them and make their time enjoyable. I’m also very mindful of their needs, whether it’s respecting their space or engaging them in activities they love. Respectful and Inclusive: I have experience working with children and adults who have additional needs, and I always ensure that everyone feels included and understood. My approach is always welcoming, and I adapt to whatever the child needs, making sure they feel safe, respected, and most importantly, happy. In short, I think the kids love spending time with me because I make every moment fun, caring, and supportive, ensuring they feel comfortable, respected, and truly enjoyed in my care.
What I love most about this work is the joy and fulfillment it brings. Caring for children, whether they’re tiny newborns, energetic toddlers, or independent teenagers, is incredibly rewarding. I love the connection I build with each child, seeing their personalities shine, and knowing that I’m making a positive impact on their lives. I also enjoy the variety that comes with this work. Every day is different, and I thrive on the challenges and joys that each new family and situation brings. Whether it’s soothing a fussy baby, engaging in creative play with little ones, or providing a calm and supportive presence for older kids, I find great satisfaction in adapting to their needs and making sure they’re happy and safe. Another aspect I love is the trust and relationships I build with families. Being able to provide parents with peace of mind, knowing their children are in good hands, is something I value deeply. The appreciation and trust I receive from both the children and their parents make this work truly meaningful to me.
